Questions Kenyans are asking

Plain-language answers, no jargon, no agenda.

How do I verify a SACCO is licensed?

Check the SASRA register of deposit-taking SACCOs, confirm the exact registered name, and ask for the licence at any branch. We link the register on every profile.

SACCO vs bank — which is better for saving?

SACCOs typically pay higher returns on deposits and offer cheaper loans against your savings, but they are member-owned with different protections. The right answer depends on your goals.

What should I check before joining any SACCO?

Licensing status, audited accounts, dividend history over several years (not one), loan terms in writing, exit/withdrawal rules, and how guarantorship works.

Can I join a Kenyan SACCO from the diaspora?

Many open-bond SACCOs onboard diaspora members with an ID/passport and remote KYC. Confirm remittance channels and whether loans require local guarantors.

Why trust FedhaLens

Our independence, in writing

Rankings are never for sale

Institutions can pay to be seen — clearly labelled — but no payment ever changes a rate, a ranking or a comparison result. This rule is published and permanent.

Facts, not verdicts

We publish verifiable public information and the questions you should ask. We don’t declare institutions “safe” or “unsafe” — we give you the record.

Right of reply

Every institution can respond to anything on its profile, and we publish that response. Fairness is part of accuracy.

For institutions

Your future members are already researching you here

SACCOs and financial institutions can claim their profile, keep product information current, and reach high-intent savers through clearly labelled featured placements — with our independence policy protecting the trust that makes those members valuable.

  • · Claim & verify your profile (free)
  • · Featured directory placement — always labelled “Sponsored”
  • · Member acquisition & enquiry routing
  • · Financial education partnerships

What sponsorship never buys

A higher ranking. A better score. A softened fact. Removal of public-record information. Our comparison results are computed from data alone — that policy is public, linked from every sponsored element, and it is the reason a placement here is worth buying.
